Job role
As Director, Commercial IT – Platform Engineering (Patient Platforms) you will lead the end-to-end design, build and operation of US Patient Platforms, covering Salesforce Health Cloud, Communities, AgentForce, Einstein, Salesforce Voice on AWS and key AppExchange applications. Operating within Solution & Service Delivery, you will guide architects, engineers, testers and external vendors, shape technical roadmaps, run CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, and ensure secure, reliable delivery for a global user base.
Key accountabilities
- Maintain deep working knowledge of platforms, products and infrastructure across our global estate (US, LATAM, Asia-Pac, ANZ, Europe & Middle East).
- Act as the technical voice for peers and external development partners to ensure alignment with AZ IT and Commercial IT standards—shaping both short- and long-term solution strategies.
- Lead build, test and release activities; run code reviews, define engineering standards and guide platform engineering resources.
- Validate business / functional requirements, refine backlogs with Platform Success Leads, set priorities and resolve issues.
- Serve as an internal consultant on assigned platforms for IT and business partners across all areas.
- Prototype and assess emerging technologies or new Salesforce features; feed recommendations into technology and business roadmaps.
- Collaborate with regional solution architects and capability teams to co-create functionality that can scale globally.
- Implement and manage Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and DevOps Ways of Working, ensuring SLAs for incidents and service requests are met.
- Lead, mentor and coach a globally distributed AZ Application Development team to increase throughput and quality.
- Coordinate alignment with standard methodology for cyber-security; maintain platform security, lead all aspects of cyber initiatives, and take ownership of any vital remediation actions.
- Champion continuous improvement—conduct platform health checks, identify process gaps and deliver improvements.
Essential skills & experience
- Understanding of the Salesforce technology stack – Salesforce Health Cloud, Salesforce Voice, Salesforce Communities
- Understanding and use integration patterns – experience designing, implementing MuleSoft
- Proven track record of crafting and operating critically important applications
- Experience working with and influencing business and BA’s around Salesforce architecture and designs
- Experience supporting and guiding development teams
- Expertise in application design patterns and processes
- Prior experience in an Information Services/Information Technology environment with good eye for business including SaaS & professional services contract management
- Expertise in Continuous Integration and Deployment methods delivered as part of an agile team
- Minimum bachelors degree or equivalent experience and engineering experience
Desirable skills & experience
- Einstein 1, AgentForce and Voice AI experience
